Babies Don't Keep

BABIES DON'T KEEP

Mother, oh Mother,

come shake out your cloth,

empty the dustpan,

poison the moth,

hang out the washing

and butter the bread,

sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the mother whose house

is so shocking?

She's up in the nursery,

blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little

Boy Blue (lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due

(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).

The shopping's not done

and there's nothing for stew

and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo

but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.

Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?

(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing

will wait till tomorrow,

for Children grow up,

as I've learned to my sorrow.

So quiet down, cobwebs.

Dust go to sleep.

I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep......

The Good Shepherd's Pasture - Week 7 - The Heavenly Zoo

Easter is over. Time to take down the decorations and ease back into Ordinary Time. Fellow parishioner and blogger Cheryl, over at
you are mine, writes a beautiful post about the Holy Spirit and Pentecost. In it she talks about how our Parish Monsignor's homily yesterday was about the Holy Spirit working through his hands, and then she says

"How great would it be to live each day with the dedication that my hands are not my own, either. That everything I do would be nothing less than God working through me. What a thought. I would have a completely different day. Deliberate. Purposeful. Always loving. I would definitely have a happier family. A more ordered home. Time better spent. A day full of peace... with no regrets. A day where I was sure I did what I was sent here to do."

Although, I thought about that in the early part of my day, I ended up, well, I didn't have a good day, and I'm still not having a good night.

But, I have this quote to think about:

"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."~~ Judy Berna

So, I will try again tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some pictures of our last Easter party we ended up having today. We were using The Garden of the Good Shepherd sticker book as our main theme for this Easter season. We will join in with Jessica and Charlotte and all of the other families who gathered at Catholic Cuisine every week to share our parties one last time!

"When God first made Adam, the man had no companions. So God had the animals walk in front of Adam so that he could give each animal a name. The garden of Eden was like a zoo. It also was like a home with pets.

This final week of the Easter season we will meet some of the wonderful and strange animals in God's garden. Some animals have fur, others have feathers. Some have sharp teeth and claws, some even have stingers. All of them drink from the fountain of the waters of life."

Myrtle Beach 2010

We had such a great time in Myrtle Beach, the time flew by. The weather was perfect! Beautiful and sunny, around 80 degrees every day. My kind of weather! A big HUGE thank you to Marmar and Poppy for inviting us along, and helping every step of the way! Thank you to K for helping so much with the kids, too! Thanks to all 3 of you for all the meals you made for us! The kids had so much fun with D, she was one of the gang! Some of our favorite things were: the pool, the beach, learning about shells and finding shells, an early morning walk on the beach, sunrises!, magicquest, the rides at Broadway, drink of the day, arts and crafts, kids night in, woodsy pool, the treehouse, and the view from our villa. I’m sure we forgot something, there was so much to do! Now, some pictures from our awesome week!

The Good Shepherd's Pasture - Week 6 - Oh, What a Beautiful City!

We were in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina all week on vacation!(pictures to follow later) so we decided to have our week 6 Easter party tonight! Using The Garden of the Good Shepherd sticker calendar, we are joining in with Jessica and Charlotte to celebrate this week's theme: Oh, What a Beautiful City! Be sure to check out Catholic Cuisine to see how other families celebrated this week!

"This sixth week of Easter includes the 40th day of the season, Ascension Day. (In some places the celebration is kept on the following Sunday.) On this day, Jesus takes his companions outdoors and they walk up a hill. On the top of the hill, Jesus blesses his friends. Then he ascends into the sky and disappears behind a cloud. Jesus enters heaven in triumph. Where he has gone, we are sure to follow.

This week, in spirit, we march up the hillside with Jesus. We enter heaven. The twelve gates of heaven's holy city swing wide open. God welcomes us inside, for we are God's own daughters and sons. We are the queens and kings of heaven!"

It seemed as though we were in heaven this past week in Myrtle Beach! Ryan and I (and MC) witnessed several beautiful sunrises, Joz and I took an early morning walk on the beach and then celebrated Ascension Sunday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. But now, on to our party!
