A Guessing Game

I don't have any prizes to give out, but it's still fun to guess! Try to guess the weight and birthday of Baby MC! Good luck!

Our Lent Calender

This is our Lent Calendar, the idea came from Guiding Your Catholic Preschooler.

Coincidentally, the items to count on MC's due date are blankets. I am sure there will be lots of soft, pink blankets to count on that day!

Outdoor Hour Challenge-Winter Series #5 Pine Trees

We decided to study a tree that is in our front yard. I always call it a pine tree and Big Daddy always corrects me and says it is not a pine, but an evergreen tree, more specifically a spruce tree. Although I wanted to stick with the Pine tree theme, we all thought it would be OK to study the spruce, which is in the pine family. Go check out Handbook of Nature Study for more links to outdoor hour adventures!

Rayzor took some close-ups of the bark and needles. I couldn't get very close because the tree was surrounded by several feet of snow.

We noticed the spruce tree did not have bundles of needles. They were evenly distributed around the branches and were short, Rayzor thought about 2 cm, and they were also curved. We also noticed there were no cones growing from the tree, and we couldn't see any on the ground because of the snow, but the kids did say they have seen cones on the ground before it snowed.

I think our spruce tree is a red spruce.
Ryan thinks it is a Norway spruce. He is probably right!
The End

O Lord and Ruler of Life, take from me the spirit of idleness, despair, cupidity, and empty talking. Yea, O Lord grant that I may see my own sins and not judge my brother. For thou art blessed forever and ever. Amen.

Fat Tuesday

Yesterday, I wanted to make a traditional King's Cake for Fat Tuesday. I used the recipe from Brooklyn Farmhouse which was recommended from Catholic Icing, who had a great tip on making your own colored sugar.

Obviously I went wrong somewhere! Big Daddy and I both agreed the taste was similar to an Entenmann's Danish TWIST.

Another Celebration

Another celebration! Rayzor was Baptized 12 years ago today at St. John's in Clinton.

Rayzor: The first great-grandchild!

I love this picture of Rayzor with Aunt K, his Godmother

This one is blurry (we had to take pictures of pictures), but I love how Rayzor is reaching up and trying to touch my brother's face while he is getting Baptized.

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Thanks to my friend Sam, for pointing us to Catholic Icing for the fun ideas for making our own unique Valentines this year!
Getting our supplies ready!

I decide to read Love Is...(Adapted from The King James Bible, Halperin)

This St. Valentine's coloring page is made by Charlotte from Waltzing Matilda and is colored by Rayzor.

Seany had a sledding "accident" hence the large band-aid on his cheek. Nothing serious, just a little road rash.
Idea from Catholic Icing. Valentine made by Joz.

We got this coloring page here. Colored by Seany.

I helped B-Rad with this adorable matchbox craft.

These cards were beautifully designed by Alice over at a number of things.

Seany and I had fun working on this stained glass craft. Idea from By Sun and Candlelight.

Our lollipop friendship blossoms by Family Fun.

A Valentine for Jesus, Our True Love. Idea from A Year With God.

This Valentine Card idea is also from A Year With God. I traced and Seany colored.
The kids set up a sledding area in our front yard. They were out there for hours.
